A: Polished concrete is a high-end, high-quality surface created by a specialist process where our experts grind and polish the concrete over several steps, which also includes adding a chemical hardener to harden the concrete and give a dust proof surface.
There are different finishes available, including the addition of colour, and we can provide a demo patch to help you choose what works for you.
A: Polished concrete is an extremely durable, non-slip surface that can last for around 20 - 30 years once applied. It is also very low maintenance and easy to clean and some finishes can help amplify light.
The finished surface is almost marble like, providing a stunning surface that can create an excellent first impression for businesses, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, galleries, car showrooms, and shopping malls, but polished concrete is equally useful for warehouses where a hard wearing surface is necessary due to high usage of machinery, such as forklifts. The smooth surface is low friction, which reduces wear on tyres and offers an easy, quick finish for moving stock back and forth.
A: As well as concrete polishing, we can also apply an epoxy resin floor coating to surfaces such as cement render, screed or concrete, giving you an extremely tough, smooth and hard wearing surface which is also dust free and chemically resistant. As with concrete polishing, we will do a site visit and give you a free, no-obligation quote before you decide to go ahead.
A: Depending on the condition, it should be possible, though you may find that the finish you get isn’t quite as uniform in appearance as one of our fresh concrete polished surfaces.
A: Polished concrete is extremely robust and once dried, we would expect it to last for around 20 - 30 years, depending on use and wear. It is also very easy to maintain, with simple sweeping, vacuuming and mopping to clean any dirt. You can also use a PH neutral cleaner for deeper cleaning, though nothing abrasive should be used as it may damage the surface. You will also need to have your new floor resealed every few years to maintain it, but it should give you years of smooth, easy, long lasting use.
A: Concrete polishing needs specialist training and equipment so we would not recommend that you attempt it yourself, but we are fully trained and we have our own equipment to provide you with the high quality finish you desire.
